Patel Taylor studied the rich English history associated with housing for the elderly and has consequently made reference to medieval Old English Houses of Alms (almshouses). By distilling the key elements of this traditional housing type, the Courtyard Housing at Wood Lane meets the needs of its users whilst being of appropriate scale to the site and its surrounding context.
The project starts on site in May and is due for completion in early 2014.
