London Dock Masterplan

London 2014

Since 2012, Patel Taylor has been instrumental in the design and delivery of a masterplan for up to 1,800 homes and an extensive new public realm in the former News International site in Wapping. This work includes the detailed design for approximately 630 homes and the associated public realm for Phase 1, the first buildings of which are currently in occupation.

London Dock is the iconic former site of News International in Wapping. New owners St George appointed Patel Taylor to deliver the masterplan, landscape and phase 1 buildings. At the heart of the scheme is a landscape proposal consisting of a series of public gardens, connecting the various spaces and buildings within the site.

Complementing these spaces is an exemplary residential led mixed-use scheme, with inspiration drawn from the area’s dockland heritage. Beginning in August 2012, the planning application was delivered in ten months with approval successfully obtained in January 2014. Just under 30% of the accommodation is affordable (social rent and intermediate).
