Bere Mill

Hampshire

A single family home has been created by linking the component buildings of the Grade II-listed 18th century Bere Mill on the River Test, which included a house, mill and two barns.

Connecting smaller cellular spaces into new larger spaces allows more sunlight in and creates views to the river and countryside. Selective structural insertions complement the historic fabric, such as the massive new oak frame in the east barn, which is itself balanced by the delicate veil of chestnut twigs in Andy Goldsworthy’s installation.
