Patel Taylor

Following a framework study, Patel Taylor was commisioned by Tameside Borough Council to provide an options appraisal and recommend a proposal for a comprehensive redevelopment of Ashton-under-Lyne’s Victorian Market Hall, after a fire destroyed it.

Our strategy placed a new civic square at the heart of the town with a loggia connecting the indoor and outdoor market to create a ‘sheltered edge’ of activity, framing a view to the Town Hall. The plan creates a new dynamic place that is linked, animated and unites new and existing architecture.
