Syon Lane delivers 473 homes for Hounslow (38% affordable), a 10,550 sqm GIA Tesco supermarket, flexible community and other commercial uses, as well as a dramatic improvement to the public realm and local streetscape environment.
 
The site brings together old and new. Derived from the grandeur of the area’s historic Art Deco industrial buildings, the proposal articulates a collection of five building typologies that define a new urban block. Volumes range from a four-storey podium to a building height of seventeen storeys. In addition to private balconies, all residents share landscaped podium-level gardens with dedicated playspace for children. Active frontages and an improved, safer public realm has been designed along Syon Lane and the Great West Road. This includes a new pedestrian and cycle friendly ‘Clean Air’ route between Syon Lane Station and the Great West Road via Syon Gate Way and New Eastern Street, as well as Syon Gate Lane.
