Patel Taylor

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham commissioned Patel Taylor to provide a masterplan for the £70m regeneration scheme for Thames View site, south of the A13. This regeneration would be driven principally by the provision of new housing, public realm, education and community facilities. However, the wider aim underpinning the masterplanning was to arrest the decline of the neighbourhood, enhance local pride, improve the commercial and cultural offer and mitigate the impact of various ad hoc developments that had taken place over time.

A new park was created at the heart of the scheme by combining two primary schools into one, opening up a new green space next to communal facilities. The success of the community consultations and planning led to us being commissioned to design the Courtyard Housing project.
